Remind me, O Lord

“Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far has the lord helped us.’” 1 Samuel 7: 12

This morning, I read some of my journal entries from more than ten years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The real eye-opener was reading the Biblical insights God had given me all that time ago. My notes from various pastors and devotional books I was reading at the time give me sound advice today. God’s truth never changes. He’s the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. As I read them today, I thought “Wow…I need to remember this!”

Maybe I need to write things on post it notes and stick them on the bathroom mirror like my daughter does. It would be my very own Ebenezer. Not a stone, but an Ebenezer mirror. “Here I raise mine Ebenezer, hither by thy grace I’m come; and I hope by thy good measure safely to arrive at home.”

Thus far, the Lord has helped me.
