Bread

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry…” --John 6:35

Life being what it is, the time had come to get serious about an eating plan. I got the book that had been such a success for my friend. “Follow it,” she said, “and the weight will come off. And if you exercise, it will come off faster.” I’ve been around this mountain before. As God told the Israelites, “You’ve been going around this mountain too long. Go north…move on.” Sure enough, this plan had the same earmarks I’ve seen before…no sugar, no bread.

The revelation that came about two weeks into the program was a real surprise. The lack of sugar was becoming acute, but the thing I craved the most was bread. Just a piece of bread. At the same time, I was reading Lysa TerKeurst’s book Made to Crave.

I need to learn to crave the Bread of Life more than I want the bread of life.
