The best Faith Breeze ever!
Meet my grandnephew, Ellis. Just the happiest little guy. We're so proud of him and his courageous mom and dad who did everything they needed to do to get him here.
When my niece, Sara Beth, was about 20 weeks pregnant, her doctors detected an abnormality on a sonogram. It turned out to be a pulmonary sequestration which caused his heart to work too hard. His internal organs eventually shifted to one side of his body causing a dangerous buildup of fluid in his scalp and intestines. If left untreated, it would cause heart failure and death.
Sara Beth and her husband, Dillon, were sent to a high risk pregnancy specialist at The Fetal Center at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, an affiliate of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, TX. Dr. Anthony Johnson, D.O., co-director of The Fetal Center, performed a laser procedure in utero which cut the blood supply to the sequestration. This procedure has only been done a handful of times in the world.
Ellis and his mom made a great recovery and he was born at 41 weeks, coming into the world to join his big brother, Lirim. The top picture was snapped just hours after his birth and it's obvious how alert he was as he looked at his dad over the shoulder of his Mimi, Joy Kennedy.
We are so grateful to Dr. Johnson and the staff at The Fetal Center, and to the alert OB/GYN who detected the problem and sent Sara Beth and Dillon to Houston without delay. Ellis will be the center of attention Sunday, Valentine's Day, when his family gathers for his baptism at First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
So in case there are any doubts, God is still in the miracle business!
