The peace and comfort of the church service settled over me.
As so often happens, a word or phrase jumps out at me and speaks clearly to my
spirit. This day, we had just finished singing the Gloria Patri. I sat down and my mind clung to a particular phrase
from the song: “As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be; world
without end. Amen.”
As the violinist played a lovely arrangement of “Be Thou My
Vision,” I looked up to the stained glass windows. The first window, the window
of Creation, is dominated by a swirl of gold, signifying light. The beginning
of the world. The world that was created by the One God, who is the same God
today as He was the day of creation. And He will be the same God tomorrow and
next year and thousands of years from this moment.
